Hope
So I have obviously let go of my blog these past few months. I am undergoing some major shifts in my life and I needed some time and room to just let things be for awhile. But alas, here I am reaching out to whoever wants to listen and respond.
At the top of year I decided to focus on a word for 2011.
That word is HOPE.
Now why is it that when we choose to focus on something really good, it seems like every force around us tries to step in and test that we are really willing to do what it takes to embrace that goodness?
I am struggling with this word/idea right now and could use some honest feedback and encouragement. So if you have any wise words or loving thoughts, I'm all ears....

I've struggled with this word at times too. Part of me thinks it implies doubt - as in 'things are so bad, I must "hope" for some shred of something better.' But, I've finally resolved to let hope be something bigger than doubt - sort of a recognition of what's right in the world (like running water and grocery stores). Even when something awful is happening, hope can be found in survivor stories or tiny successes. I think it's awfully easy to lose that thin thread of hope when the media seems so committed to showing the worst, but I think it's worth holding onto... for us and for those who are living it.

hope is a courageous word...to me it means that when everything looks bad or seems like it will never work out, you continue to keep on because you just know there's good stuff right around the corner. at least you hope so. :)
